2025 Spring Tobacco Apprenticeship
How to take the medicine & Remote opening ceremony February 13th 8pm CT
METHOD FOR DAILY RITUAL
Set & Setting
Ideally, it is best to sit in the same place every day. If that is not the style of diet you are conducting, you will be anchoring deeply into your own body and practice. Wherever you choose to be should be quiet, simple and peaceful. It is best to sit at night before bed. If you can sit with a candle, that is beautiful. Altar items should be kept simple and reflective of the prayer and intentions you’re holding for your diet. If you can sit on a meditation cushion that is best. Otherwise a floor chair with low back support is good too.
Sequence
- Drop into 10 minutes of gentle breath. Come to equilibrium.
- Connect to your prayer for your diet.
- Take the medicine.
- Sit for 10 minutes in silence.
- Open your channel to songs, visions and guidance.
Quantity of Medicine
Small / Normal dose: 1/2 a pea or a smear on the finger
Large / Moderate dose: 1 pea lumped on to the finger
This tobacco is very strong and needs to be respected. Please do not take more than what is recommended unless we have a personal discussion about it first and it is approved by leadership. The processes that large amounts of tobacco paste can trigger have the potential of being very powerful and can take an individual far beyond our edge.
REMOTE OPENING CEREMONY
For those who will not be joining us at the opening ceremony in the desert:
We will be hosting a 3rd night of ceremony for our friends around the globe on February 13th at 8pm CT.
The link to join the ceremony is here.
I would deeply value the attendance of all who missed the in-person openings and this would be in great service to our container as a whole.
CAUTIONS
If you start to feel dehydrated, lightheaded or with strong headache, dry mouthed or nauseous during the day, please stop taking the tobacco paste for 3-5 days and notify our leadership team immediately. This is possible if the body has become overloaded by the medicine, usually somewhere in the second or third month of the diet. The body should adjust very quickly. When returning to the medicine smaller doses will be advised.
CONTAINER STRUCTURE
We are entering a powerful portal together and it is critical that we stick together. Each of our personal experiences will be tethered to and affected by everyone in the group. Yes, we have our own sovereign, unique experience and equally our container is united, collective and communal. The interplay between the collective and self is a huge part of the healing and power in this work.
It is vital that everyone show up for calls with the community and with your accountability partners. Guardians will check in with you periodically to offer support and make sure your experience is held and honored with the highest integrity. Please be on time for our work together. Your presence or absence will affect everyone in the diet.
Great Spirit - The divine holding all
Mockingbird - Guide & steward of this work, wrapping loving arms and prayers around the container
Guardians - Weaving relations with the community to ensure the best possible outcome of everyone’s diet
Community - The way we all checkin, hold a level circle and share experience.
Accountability - The two-way thread you keep throughout the diet with your accountability partner
Self - Dropping into your own experience and deepening into self-trust // Inner Union
Tobacco - This is the thread where we “lean in” on tobacco as a way to drop deeper into self and connect with prayer
Great Spirit - The divine emanating through all
