THE OLD WAY
AN ANCESTRAL APPROACH TO LIFE
For millennia, human beings practiced Earth-based spirituality. We lived close to the natural world and honored our sources of life—be it the rain, the animals we hunted or the fire which kept our hearths alive.
The core of ancient spiritual initiations resides in the willpower to sit with bodily discomfort, in order to access deeper truth. The loss of this foundational understanding is what has birthed a world of ultra-convenience, driving us mad and making us sick.
Healing looks like coming back into right relation with the natural world. We do that by remembering our bodies as unified with Earth, and all therewith to be natural. To practice this, we return to The Old Way.
⊹ANCESTRAL GNOSIS⊹
Γνῶθι σαυτόν // KNOW THYSELF.
The foundation of The Old Way is Ancestral Gnosis. Gnosis is knowledge. But it is not the kind of knowledge we inherit from books, systems of logic or from others. Gnostic knowledge originates in our interior. It is inner knowing. It is the form of self-knowledge that inspires us to act courageously, sacrifice for the greater good and make leaps of faith.
Gnosis is ancestral because it comes to us through the body. And the body is the result of matrilineal and patrilineal lines weaving into unique genetic code. The body contains the genetic information of all the life-forces which came before it. Our work is oriented towards accessing this doorway of the ancestral body.
⊹THE CEREMONIAL CIRCLE⊹
KNOWING ALL AS SELF.
The circle is how human beings kept remembrance of the ancestral nature of knowledge, for the better part of our evolution. It has three tenants.
All are equal within the circle.
The circle can absorb all that is shared.
All who sit in the circle must share.
The circle is what grounds gnosis, or interior self-knowledge, in a shared reality. When the community practices truth-telling and co-weaving, the capacity for each individual to realize their own gnosis deepens. It is the ability access our own interior knowledge and to witness the expression of others’ interior knowledge that allows us to self-actualize.
